Moulin Rouge!

Satine from Moulin Rouge! has the most amazing costumes, a collection of corsets, underwear, gowns and indian inspired outfits.

One of the best Romantic Films in my mind, Directed by Baz Luhrman, But what interest me more, are the Costume Designers, Catherine Martin and Angus Strathie. Catherine is an Australian Costume, Production and Set Designer, She is also the Wife of Baz Luhrman (The Director). 

Catherine designed the set of Moulin Rouge and Co-Designed the Costumes, The other designer was Angus Strathie, Who won an achademy award for best costume design in 2001.

Moulin Rouge! is set in the 1900's, The costumes were inspired by when Catherine was working on 'A Midsummers night dream' in India and visited a Bollywood movie. This you can see in the ending, The indian inspired costumes.

In the 1900's it was the rise of haute couture, featuring fitted gowns and pinched in waists like an hourglass became popular again, a full bossom was fashionable.

Throughout the film, tight corsets, curvy women and a bohemian style of costume and fashion.

The costumes in this film are vivid and fun, costume changes are in an abundance, especially the women. The set design and Cast choice compliment the story line and costume choice well.

Also Moulin Rouge!is always a great basis for costume partys and amazing refrence and inspiration. I get alot of inspiration and influences from my favourite films.
